China vehicle exports fell 46% amid global decline in 2009
Chinese auto exports fell 46% on annual basis due to the global economic downturn, said Wednesday the Association of Automobile Manufacturers China.
According to the association, China exported a total of 369 600 vehicles (- 46%) in 2009 to a value of 5.19 billion (- 46%).
Through its domestic market booming, China has imported 420 800 vehicles in 2009, up 3% a year. Imports minibus jumped 45% to 164 800 units, the association said.
Sales and production cars are all more than doubled in January 2010 on an annual basis to exceed 1.6 million units, a new record, “the association said Tuesday.
China surpassed the United States in 2009 to become the largest automobile producer and the biggest car market in the world with annual sales amounting to 13.64 million units.
