11.02 million jobs created in China in 2009
In 2009, 11.02 million jobs were created in China in urban areas, exceeding the government target of 9 million new jobs, said Friday the Chinese Ministry of Labor and Social Security.
The figure is higher by 22.4% as the target for full year set last March by the government, said Yin Chengji, spokesman for the ministry at a press conference.
Approximately 5.14 million laid-off workers were reemployed last year, exceeding the target of 5 million.
The urban unemployment rate reached 4.3%, with 9.21 million people registered as unemployed.
