Is an old text book on the stock market still relevant?

(I rented a book, called Stock Logic, to learn more about the stock market. The book is written like a college text book and seems very thorough, but it was copy written in 1979. Before I waste my time reading this, do you think the book is still relevant or should I buy a more current book.)

Answer :

A better, more modern book about stock investing is “The Five Successful Rules of Stock Investing”, by Pat Dorsey. This book focuses on how to analyze a company and it’s stock, if you want to purchase individual stocks.

If you want an overview of stocks and the stock market, there are two good books that can help:

- A Random Walk Down Wall Street, by Burton Malkiel
- All About Stocks, by Esme Faerber

The book’s focus is on retirement investing, but I do give some fundamental information about stocks and a small history lesson. Download the book and go straight to chapters 5, 6, 13, 14, and 15 to get some info. Even if you don’t like my book, you didn’t pay anything for it, so you have nothing to lose.
