UK GDP growth of 1.1% higher than the first quarter of 0.3%, august gold futures fell 7.80 U.S. dollars to close at 1,187.80 U.S. dollars an ounce, down 0.7%, gold futures fell this week, less than 0.1%, gold futures opened higher Friday, but profit-taking after a breakthrough 1200 U.S. dollars selling emerged, gold futures rose to intraday high of 1203.90 U.S. dollars.
S & P 500 index this week gained 3.6%, European stock markets closed higher Friday, the pan-European Dow Jones Stoxx 600 index rose 0.6% to close at 255.97 points, the index rose 3.2% this week, bank stocks rose this week, Germanys’ commercial banks rose by 2%, the French Credit Agricole fell 1.9%.
UK FTSE 100 index ended flat to closing at 5312.62 points; the German DAX index rose 0.4% to close at 6166.34 points; CAC-40 index in France was up 0.2% to close at 3607.05 points. September crude futures fell 32 cents to close at 78.98 U.S. dollars a barrel, down 0.4%.
