The Dow Jones industrial average rose 102.32 points -reuters dow jones
The Dow Jones industrial average rose 102.32 points to close at 10,424.62 points, or 0.99%; the Nasdaq composite index rose 23.58 points to close at 2,269.47 points, or 1.05%; Standard & Poor’s 500 index rose 8.98 points to close at 1,102.67 points, or 0.82%.
Credit card issuer American Express (AXP) rose 3.7%, GE (General Electric, GE) closed up 3.3%, fast-food giant McDonald’s (MCD) fell 2.1%, the exchange rate of euro against the dollar fell to 1.2884, and the dollar index fell 0.1%, treasury prices rose, the 10-year U.S. Treasury yields fell to 2.98%.
European stock markets closed higher Friday, the pan-European Dow Jones Stoxx 600 index rose 0.6%, New York crude oil futures ended down 0.4%, gold futures prices also lower, Ifo business climate index in July from 101.8 points in June rose to 106.2 points in July, Ifo business climate index fell to 101.5 points, July executives expected future business conditions index rose to 105.5 points from 102.5 points, the current conditions index rose to 106.8 points from 101.2 points, report is released, the euro against the dollar to 1.2966 U.S. dollars per euro.
